The Australian auto industry has been suffering something of a serious contraction, with consumers opting for smaller and more fuel-efficient vehicles as of late. But don’t tell that to the Holden Special Vehicles Team, which for several decades has sold some of the meanest and mightiest big V8 sedans in all of Oz. So why stop now?
Using social media giant Facebook to announce their Gen-F lineup, the Holden Special Vehicles Team is now offering what it claims is the fastest HSV vehicle ever, along with plenty of lower-end models in a variety of body styles.
We already extensively covered the HSV GTS, which gets the supercharged LSA engine good for 430 kW/580 horsepower and 556 pound feet of torque. This is going to be the fastest HSV vehicle ever, though it isn’t alone in the lineup. Joining it will be the Clubsport, with the 420 horsepower LS3 engine, while the Clubsport R8 model will have up to 435 horsepower.
While the U.S. is getting its own version the Commodore (upon which all HSV vehicles are based) the Chevy SS is only available as a four-door sedan. The Aussies, meanwhile, will also have a wagon and Ute model as well. A supercharged, 580 horsepower modern day El Camino? What will it take for GM to bring that vehicle here?
