Most red-blooded American males love a good muscle car, no matter what make or model it is. The thing about muscle cars though, is that they’re not very family friendly. The backseats are cramped, there are only two doors, and the trunks are never anything to brag about. That’s why we’ve seen a rise in high-horsepower sedans and SUV’s that offer performance the whole family can enjoy.
This video of an 1,100 horsepower Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 is about more than just fast times down the drag strip; it’s about family togetherness via torque.
Now we don’t have to tell you that the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 is no lightweight. As a family hauler, the full interior had to stay in, thus tipping the scales at over 5,100 pounds. Since the owner opted not to shed any weight to lower his track times, there was only one other solution; crank up the horsepower.
And so that’s what they did. With twin turbochargers, a full exhaust, and a whole host of supporting mods, this humble family hauler becomes a, 1,100 horsepower, 10-second track nightmare. No SUV should ever move this fast…although the kids can’t get enough of it. And quite frankly, neither can we.
We call this 'Before and After.'
