Hot rodding has been popular ever since cars made their way into mainstream America. Prior to World War II, many hot rods were re-worked family sedans. Nothing was sacred, not even Cadillacs. These days, the number of pre-war hot rods still on the road is impressive, though we don’t think we’ve ever seen a hot rod quite like this.
The car before you is a 1939 LaSalle. It has been heavily modified and now sits on a truck frame as a mudbogger. And it is up for sale on eBay.
The LaSalle was a “companion car” built to bridge the gap between Cadillac and Buick. Pre-World War II, most car companies produced just a single car model, which is why GM wound up with so many car brands (it was at this time that Pontiac, and the lesser-known Viking brand were birthed). The LaSalle was actually built by Cadillac, and it closely resembled its GM cousin.
This LaSalle resembles nothing we’ve ever seen. The front end and hood is from a 1947 Dodge pickup, and it sits on a GMC 800 frame with airlift suspension and 48-inch tires. The floorboards sit between four or five feet above the ground, according to the seller, and he doesn’t recommend too many passengers due to the rough ride. It is powered by a 427 engine and backed by a nine-speed transmission. This is one badass ride, though not one we think we could ever replicate. The best part (besides the bright pink color) is the price; a mere $3,500, which means you’ll have money left over for the inevitable injuries and lawsuits.
