Ever look at today’s cars and realize that despite all the modern conveniences and safety features, these vehicles are not that far removed from their classic forefathers? The ’11 Mustang is a perfect example. Sure, it is loaded with more computer power than all of NASA had in ’69, but it is still a rear-wheel drive, V8-powered pony car. That is why it is so easy to transfer much of today’s technology into classic cars.
Take a gander at this ’68 Mustang RestoMod found on Hemmings Auto Blog being sold by Street Dreams Texas. It has many modern amenities while still maintaining that classic muscle car presence.
While this is instantly recognizable as a ’68 Mustang, the car has been “tarted up” with an Eleanor body kit from front to back. This includes Shelby-style side scoops, LED rear tail lights, body-blended side exhaust, billet chrome side view mirrors, and a raised hood. 17-inch wheels complete the exterior look, which could easily be mistaken for a much more modern muscle car.
The interior has also been nicely upgraded, with a reproduction Shelby wooden steering wheel, new bucket seats and carpets, and even an MP3/CD player. The 302 engine is classic muscle though, featuring classic Holley carburetor power, shorty headers, and a true dual exhaust system. This is one of the nicer RestoMods we’ve seen lately, and perhaps best of all is the asking price of just $47,500. This is a very nicely optioned car for that kind of scratch, and we’d have a hard time choosing between this or a fully-optioned 2011 Mustang GT. Which would you rather have?
