It is hard to imagine sometimes what life must have been like for muscle car fans back in the day. It seems like there are a hundred aftermarket companies for every car, and when it comes to the Mustang, more like a thousand companies. Body kits, superchargers, even fuzzy dice all designed exclusively for the Mustang. And with the 2010 SEMA show coming up soon, expect even more products to join the fray.
Anvil Auto, best known for making carbon fiber bits for Camaros, is breaking into the Mustang world with help from Steve Strope of Pure Vision. Together they will debut the Anvil Mustang at SEMA 2010. The build is being detailed over at Pro-Touring, and we can’t wait to see the finished product.
The Anvil Mustang project started out with a ’69 Mustang sport roof, one of the most popular (and in our opinion, best looking) Mustangs ever built. Major revisions are planned for this humble ’69 though, including a carbon fiber hood, chin spoiler, deck lid, new fenders and rear quarter extensions as well. Classic white and black paint scheme will meld with the one-off gold wheels modeled after the ‘60’s Indy cars.
Of course, what crazy Mustang project would be complete without a crazy engine? Expect to see a 521 cubic inch engine (what, no new 5.0?) making in excess of 800 horsepower under the carbon fiber hood. A Tremec five-speed transmission with a Kevlar clutch will back up this badass engine, and Baer Brakes will provide the much-need stopping power.
There are tons more pictures over at Pro-Touring of the design and build process, so make sure you check them out. The Anvil Mustang is set to debut at the 2010 SEMA show, so keep your eyes peeled.
