Simple and Complete Full-Disc Brake Conversion For Early Mustangs

Ford got a lot of things right when they made the first Mustang, including the big engine and small body.  Classic Tube’s STOPFLEX division now has a complete disc brake conversion for early Mustangs. This kit includes 4-piston lightweight aluminum calipers, grooved 11.25” rotors, a red-powder coated master cylinder, and a single-diaphragm booster to make the conversion a cinch.

Official Release

The STOPFLEX® division of Classic Tube now has the ONLY COMPLETE disc brake conversion kit (#SFMU1000) for the early Mustangs. This revolutionary kit bolts to the stock V8 drum brake spindles and includes STOPFLEX® 4-piston lightweight aluminum calipers in red or black powder coat, clear zinc plated rotors, a dual-chamber red powder coated master cylinder and a 7-inch single diaphragm booster. The grooved rotors are 11.25-inches in diameter and are clear zinc wash plated for added rust resistance. The bolt pattern is 5 on 4.5-inches, while the mounting hardware kit includes brackets, splash shields, bearings, bolts sets, etc. The 4-piston calipers were chosen to provide maximum performance on street or strip.

A Ford dual chamber master is used for added safety, and the booster is finished in gold cadmium plate, and features an adjustable pushrod. Non-power brake kits are also available. The front hoses are STOPFLEX® DOT stainless steel and the rear center hose comes with a factory bracket. An adjustable proportioning valve in black powder coat is included, along with a how-to DVD installation video.

Finishing off the kit is a complete 7-piece pre-bent 304 stainless steel hard line set with stainless steel fittings. These lines follow the OEM routing and incorporate the new disc brake components for a factory look and easy bolt-on installation. The complete kit retails for $1195.

In addition to their comprehensive line of pre-bent tubing, brake maintenance products and tools, Classic Tube offers a custom-bending department to duplicate customer patterns in 1/8 to 1/2-inch tubing.
