The Pontiac G8 was released in 2008 and was short lived till 2009 when Pontiac pulled its plug. The G8 was introduced as a family car with the muscle and power of a sports car. The car was given three different types of powerplants under the hood.
First came the 3.6L LY7 V6 engine that made 256 horsepower, next they released the V8 GT and GXP models that carried the 6.0L L76 that made 361hp and then the 6.2L LS3 that made a huge leap to 415hp.
Although the powerful line up of cars where advertised as a four-door sedan many owners started making modifications to the engine and exhaust system. This included a camshaft, ported heads, along with headers and cat-back exhaust.
We came across a wicked sleeper G8 over on LS1Tech.com. From the outside of the car it looks almost stock but when you look under the hood, it’s a different story.
The project is underway with installing a complete APS twin turbo system and supporting mods. The APS kit came mostly complete with its Turbos, all piping that includes hot side and intercooler side.
The front bumper was removed to make some room for the massive intercooler that will help temps stay very low while under boost form the turbos.
The next step was to install the turbos, all piping and run the 3-inch exhaust system to the rear of the car. The rest of the install was pretty straight forward with a few slight hiccups from the downpipe mating to the rear exhaust. After everything was installed it was time to put the G8 on the Dyno for some Tuning and see what kind of numbers these turbo’s could pump out. The car made some great power at 553 horsepower and 588 lbs. of torque. Not too bad for a nice looking four-door!
