Jim Schmittinger of West Bend, Wisconsin created this dream machine out of a 36,000 mile stock Grand National. Jim is no stranger to these cars and claims to have owned 45 turbo Buicks at one time or another. But this particular turbo Buick is truly “one of a kind.”

How does 1,600 horsepower to the rear wheels sound to you? That power comes from a 406 inch small block Chevy with SB2 heads and a single 106mm turbocharger. That power is transmitted through a Turbo 400 transmission and out to the 295/65/R15 Mickey Thompson drag radial tires. This ride doesn’t require expensive race gas to make all this power either, as it runs on E85 right out of the pump. Of course the fuel mileage isn’tt that good, but at least the fuel is cheap.

The parts are all top of the line and that’s what you would expect on a vehicle running this quick and fast and able to cruise the streets. The chassis has been built to legal specifications for the dragstrip, and the interior is plush and complete with features like power seats, power windows, alarm system and remote start. Jim claims to have invested over $130,000 into this bad black beast that may be the baddest street legal Grand National on the planet.
