Chrysler has made no bones about it; the 2013 SRT Viper GTS-R is gunning for the championship in next year’s American Le Mans Series. For now though, the Viper racing team is content to practice, practice, and practice on each course on the ALMS schedule, starting at the Carolina Motorsports Track before moving on to Virginia International Raceway.
The next course the Viper devoured is the famous Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, which as we can see in this next video is easily conquered by Chrysler’s new snake.
DriveSRT reports that of the four Viper team racing drivers, three were on hand at Mid-Ohio. Between Kumo Wittmer, Dominik Farnbacher, and Marc Goossens, the three put at least 150 laps down for testing. That is actually more laps than a typical ALMS race, which sends the message that the Viper team is crazy serious about making an impact next season.
Like the previous two videos, the Mid-Ohio test video is shockingly short. Chrysler seems intent on teasing the 2013 Viper and Viper GTS-R as long as it can, and that has to have at least a few ALMS competitors wringing their hands with worry. And they should be, because Chrysler isn’t messing around, as we just got word that the 2013 SRT Viper GTS-R will make its racing debut on August 4th at, you guessed it, the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. Other racers, you’ve been warned
