Recently we brought you word of Cadillac’s reveal of their 2016 ATS-V Coupe at the Los Angeles Auto Show. Leading up to the reveal Cadillac released a teaser video showing the new beast reaching 138mph and then coming to a stop faster than it got there. At that time, the engine was still a mystery. Now it has been revealed that the ATS-V will have a 3.6 liter V-6 twin-turbocharged engine, a first for the Cadillac V-Series.
The short video shows the car going from 0 to 60 in what appears to be less than four seconds, 3.9 seconds to be exact, and reaching speeds up to 138 mph then coming to a complete halt, all in 20 seconds. According to Cadillac, the top speed of the car is 189 mph which isn’t surprising considering the car was rated at 455 horsepower and 445 foot-pounds of torque. This luxury car can come in either a six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic with a paddle shifter.
This brand new V-Series model shows its quickness, but Dave Leone, the Cadillac chief engineer has already made some bold claims, “Stacked up against the competition, nobody is faster. Nobody has a higher top speed.” Being that this car is one of the fastest production models that Cadillac has ever produced it will be interesting to see what the future holds when they introduce the other V-Series brand plans by 2020.
The teaser video goes by fast so don’t blink. Enjoy the speed of the ATS-V and look for it to hit the production lines in the spring and arriving at the dealerships around May.
