To us car guys, Jay Leno will always be an automotive enthusiast first, and a talk show host/comedian second. With Jay no longer hosting The Tonight Show, he’s mostly stuck to hosting his YouTube show, Jay Leno’s Garage, inviting various auto industry experts to show him what they’ve got.
This time around though, fellow funnyman Joe Rogan decided to swing by, in addition to some hilarious stories from his standup, Rogan also brought along his supercharged 1965 Chevy Corvette restomod to wow Leno with.
Rogan is every bit the car enthusiast Leno is, but their tastes differ when it comes to stock vs. modified cars. Leno essentially has one of the world’s best car museums in his posession, where Rogan spends money on restomods like the above Corvette. Powered by a supercharged LS1 engine, the custom chromed-out Corvette is otherwise essentially stock-looking (save for some head rests molded onto the roof cover, even though it wears a modern suspension and brake system. On the interior, Rogan wanted something completely custom, which required a lot of work and a lot of money, but the result is spectacular.
Beyond the performance, Rogan had a long list of wants and needs for his restomod, though the building of this beautiful Corvette was anything but easy. This is one of Jay’s longer videos at over 30 minutes long, and rather than spoil it for you, we suggest you sit down and watch this one on your lunch break. Suffice to say, there’s a reason Leno spends longer with Rogan’s Corvette than he does most other cars.
