It is an open secret that production of the fourth installment of the Max Max Series, Fury Road, is well into production. While Mad Max was never a movie about cars per se, vehicles played a very pivotal role in each of the movies’ popularity, both here and abroad. So it isn’t surprising that the Fury Road will have plenty of crazy, post-apocalyptic vehicles on display, though we’ve seen only a few screenshots to confirm this.
Well thankfully, somebody on the set of Fury Road managed to smuggle out some footage of the new road warrior rides, and they definitely live up to expectations.
Given the highly modified nature of these rides, it is almost impossible to tell what some of them once were. However, if Fury Road lives up to series canon, most of these cars probably have origins in Australia. There seem to be a lot of larger rides than in previous movies as well, though there are plenty of buggies and converted muscle cars riding around too.
The plot of the movie is so far a closely-guarded secret, though we’d wager a guess that the name “Fury Road” may imply some sort of convoy-like mission for Mad Max. Add to that all the vehicles that seem to be on set, and this could very well be a gearhead’s dream sequel. The movie is set to hit theaters in 2014, and we will be the first ones in line to see it.
