Is there any automotive rivalry greater than the one harbored by America’s three largest automakers? We would argue that there’s not. Just about every American has, at one point or another, owned a Ford, GM, or Chrysler product, and either loved or hated the vehicle enough to develop a personal bias. Then there are those people who hate American cars regardless, but they don’t matter much, do they?
Our point though is that at the end of the day whether you’re a Ford, GM, or Mopar man, we all just love cars and the things they can do for us. This video featuring a Ford and GM employee burning rubber for their respective brands is a great reminder of that.
According to Jalopnik, this tandem burnout video features a Ford SVT engineer (specifically, Program Management) naturally rocking the new Mustang GT with the 5.0 V8 engine. His buddy over there in the Cadillac CTS-V Wagon is a GM Powertrain Engineer. Together, these two lead-foots burnt some rubber for a mutual friend’s photo-shoot. The result is an awesome reminder of why we love American muscle.
Sure, we could go on and on about the endless rivalry between the brands, but with the Big Three automakers now holding just 33% of the new car market, there are bigger fish to fry. By that we mean the Japanese, European, and Korean automakers who have taken the U.S. by storm. The Big Three need to team up to beat this threat back! Or least obscure it in some serious burnout smoke, know what we mean?
