Car design requires a certain talent, an ability to take an image in your mind and translate it to paper. While it may not seem like a glorious job, car designers like Lee Iacocca have had a profound impact on American culture with cars like the Ford Mustang. Today, artists the world over regularly practice and sharpen their skills by sketching out some of the most iconic vehicles on the road today.

Thanks to modern video technology, it is now easy for these artists to share their work and skills with the world. We’re happy to encourage these artists, which is why we are sharing with you this next video of a talented artist’s first sketch of a Ford Mustang. We gotta say, for a first Mustang sketch, it came out, well, awesome.

Scratch that, this is the first CAR the artist, who goes by the nickname DeitMitches, has ever drawn. While we’re pretty sure the artist used some kinda of picture for inspiration, the video, which seems to skip some frames, makes it pretty clear that this wasn’t just copied or printed out. This is freehand, baby, and it takes more than a little talent to achieve this level of detail.

The car looks to be a ‘67 or ‘68 fastback, and it certainly passes by our in-house art snobs. It is fascinating to watch this car come together over what must have been hours of drawing, condensed to just over a minute. We hope you all appreciate an artistic talent like this, because we know most of us don’t have a lick of drawing ability.
