There is no getting around it; big rims are a fad that seem here to stay. Once the realm of donks and big rigs, rims have been getting increasingly bigger, even on economy cars. And if you’re in the market for a muscle car like the Boss 302 Mustang, Ford offers it with 19-inch machined aluminum wheels right from the factory.

So stepping up to a set of full-fledged dubs only makes sense, right? Yet even after watching this slick, well-produced video of a brand new 2013 Boss 302 Mustang in the delectable Gotta Have It Green, we’re still not convinced 20-inch rims are the way to go. What do you think?

There are two schools of thought when it comes to rims; those who think they should be the flashiest part of the car, and those who use them only because they need to. And in fairness, the right rims can really make a car like the Mustang “pop” when you see it. That said, big rims make more sense on some cars than others.

Big 20-inch dubs totally make sense on a Mustang V6 or GT. But on a Boss 302 Mustang? It seems a little counter-intuitive. After all, the Boss is bred for the track, and while these Vossen 20-inch rims are only a little bigger than factory stock, they’re also most likely heavier and less conducive to improving performance. Essentially, they’re show rims on a race car.

And yet we can’t deny that these Vossen rims look pretty damn good on this Gotta Have It Green Boss Mustang. We’re torn…do bigger rims make this Boss more Boss, or is 20-inches big enough? Tell us in the comments below.
