Car thievery is one of the lowest forms of scumbaggery, and it makes one wish for the days of public executions again. Alas, we are a more civilized society, and using the power of people and social networking, maybe we can undo a heinous crime visited upon fellow car guys.
Sometime on Thursday morning, the ’35 Ford Custom “Ruby Deluxe,” which was set to receive the “Kustom of the Year” award at tomorrow’s Scottsdale Goodguys show. Comp Cams posted a shout-out on Facebook to any and everybody to be on the lookout for the hot rod, and the truck, and trailer that were stolen as well.
At approximately 1am, the thieving bastards stole a 2007 Chevy Silverado 2500HD Diesel Classic, Pewter Gray in color from a residence in Burbank, California. The license plate number is 8D40441. Attached to the Silverado was a 24” Hallmark trailer, all black, with the license plate number 4GT8289. “Ruby Deluxe” has the license plate “BUGS 35,” and was built by Hollywood Hot Rods.
We covered it briefly in a piece from last month detailing the winners of the Goodguys awards. “Ruby Deluxe” was all loaded up to head to Scottsdale and get its well-deserved award, and the timing certainly does raise issues. Was it a jaded runner up, an inside job, or just observant thieves? That doesn’t matter so much right now as getting the car back, so keep your eyes peeled. If you do happen to see it, contact Troy at [email protected], or call (818) 842-6900.
If enough information is plastered about the Internet about these vehicles, somebody is sure to spot them. It isn’t exactly easy to hide a one-of-a-kind hot rod, a huge diesel truck and trailer. Keep those peepers peeled!
