Chrysler is a car company that knows how to build suspense. After the Italian-owned American automaker killed off the Dodge Viper, many assumed this was the end of the road for Pentastar supercars. They were wrong though, and the announcement of a 2013 Viper under the SRT badge has many of is wringing our hands in anticipation of an American supercar designed with input from the Italians once again.
SRT released its first teaser shot a few weeks ago, and has deigned to release another teaser on their Facebook page. That’s a carbon fiber scoop to be sure…but for the hood, fenders, or somewhere else?
Unlike its competition, which have cut brands, Chrysler has added brands to its lineup; first, the Ram line of pickups, and now the SRT brand, which will be led by the new Viper. The first teaser gave us a look at the lines of the 2013 Viper, and we’ve already seen the next logo for the, a snake named Stryker, which is said to hold some of the same lines that will appear on the ’13 Viper model.
The latest teaser shot is a carbon fiber scoop of some sorts, and we have an inkling it’s a hood scoop. But it could be an air duct for the rear brakes that will sit on the fenders as well, or something totally unrelated. Either way, we know we’re getting more and more excited for the New York Auto Show, where the 2013 SRT Viper will be unveiled.
