SCT Performance has made flash tuning even more mobile, and simplified, with their new iPhone based iTSX flash programmer. The programmer was originally unveiled at the 2011 SEMA Show where it was awarded the top SEMA prize for 2012 Best Performance Product Award. An award of that caliber deserves a special display, so SCT moved their offices to a new state of the art facility in Sanford, Florida. Actually the company moved in August before the SEMA award was presented, but the product award is impressive enough that a move could have been warranted.
We caught up with SCT Performance representative, Tim Roi, and talked with him about the iTSX flash programmer. “The iTSX is an iPhone/iPad based wireless programmer that allows a user to program the vehicle, measure performance, built in quarter mile testing, brake testing and a built in dyno system to tell you how much horsepower and torque your vehicle makes.”
The iTSX will allow users to discover the hidden horsepower that the factory OE programmers left alone when designing engine operations for average drivers.
- Wireless Vehicle Tuning
- On-Screen Virtual Gauges
- Built-In Performance Tests
- Reads & Clears DTC Codes
- Backs Up Factory Tune
- Installs Quickly & Easily
- Gas & Diesel Vehicles Supported
- Analog Inputs
- Easy Restoration Back to Stock
The iTSX app offers the user controls and monitoring capabilities that have never been seen before with iPod, iPad or iPhone and a car’s engine controls. Using the vehicles OBD-II port and SCT’s wireless interface, the portable devices can monitor and test several different areas of performance in addition to the tuning capabilities. Data monitoring and testing with the iTSX includes:
- 0 – 60 MPH performance test with estimated HP and TQ
- ET and MPH performance test with 1/8 and 1/4 mile
- Top speed performance test
- Braking performance test with 60 – 0 MPH ET
- On screen virtual gauges with adjustable warning lights
- Monitor engine data with virtual gauges
- Adjustable gauge themes and layouts
According to Roi, “the iTSX will allow users to discover the hidden horsepower that the factory OE programmers left alone when designing engine operations for average drivers and not the performance enthusiasts.”
All this capability, and it’s available on your cell phone. We have to wonder how long before the SCT crew figures out how to make the iPhone start and run your car to the school to pick up the kids without a driver. That would get the Parent’s performance product of the year award.
