The classic Ford Mustang has inspired entire generations of custom car creators and fabricators. The interest in customized classic Mustangs has really taken off in the past decade, as Baby Boomers approach retirement with chunky pensions and 401(k) plans. Of course the same person who can cut a check for a $100,000 custom Mustang is probably the same person who quickly gets bored with said $100,000 Mustang.
We’re not sure what circumstances led to this one-of-one 1967 “Obsidian” Mustang winding up for sale on eBay. But with a 900+ horsepower engine, luxurious interior, and a thoroughly modern suspension, this wasn’t a cheap Mustang by any stretch of the imagination.
With just 500 miles on the odometer since being completed, it is obvious that whoever ordered this car didn’t get a chance to enjoy it for very long. But it must have been a fun 500 miles, as the 392 cubic-inch V8 cranks out at least 900 horsepower according to the seller, and with a little tuning could easily achieve over 1,000. That power comes from not one, but two C38 Rotrex superchargers supported by dual custom intercoolers.
Underneath the car is a RRS Stage 5 coil-over suspension system, coupled to a 3-link rear suspension and power steering rack. The brakes are 14-inch wide, to provide superior stopping power. And on the inside it’s all luxury and leather, with a custom dashboard and hand-crafted center console. In short, it’s a really, really rad ride.
But with a starting bid at $325,000, it’s a rad ride most people can only ever dream about enjoying…hopefully for more than 500 miles.
