Swaps Made Simple With 321 Stainless Steel Ultimate Headers

We’ve all been to a car show or drag race and found that one guy: the dude with the mullet that had to use a sledgehammer to beat his new headers into submission, not-so-gingerly convincing them to get around the steering box with the finesse and patience of The Hulk standing in the DMV line. He totally needed the biggest tubes possible for that 13/16-inch race cam in the 305 small-block “Chevy Camara.” After he completed all of his so called “fabrication,” the tin foil flanges won’t seal and they look dastardly.

With over 72 applications, Ultimate Headers offers a wide selection of products and specialize in headers for engine swaps, so you never find yourself in such a position. Using a Finite Element Analysis (FEA), the company is able to make a solid and reliable product. At first glance you’ll notice that the headers are a work of art, made of a durable 321 stainless steel and available in several different finishes. All of their headers include ARP 12-point stainless steel bolts, washers, and Cometic multi-layer stainless gaskets.

The flanges are thick and look very rugged. They offer ribs in the flange that the company states will  improve cooling, adds reinforcement, and will reduce warpage.

The new technology doesn’t stop with the flanges. Ultimate Headers has incorporated some really trick ideas to their collectors, as well. They offer two different types of solutions for your project: one is a a standard three-bolt style flange that’s cast stainless steel that also offers the same rib/cavity design as the flanges. The result is a stronger, more durable, yet lighter weight design.

The second flange is called the Extreme Low Profile Clamp. As you probably guessed, it was designed for cars that are either very low or don’t have much clearance between the body and the exhaust. They allow for a 13-degrees offset to facilitate an easier exhaust system alignment and installation.

So if your thinking about taking a ball-peen hammer to a new set of headers, please don’t. No one wants to be that guy and there are much better other options out there.

Stay tuned for a more in-depth look at these pieces from Ultimate Headers as we’ll be soon installing a set on an LT-powered GTO.
